On 20-23 July 2011, the Centre for Public Law and the British Academy hosted in Cambridge and London respectively, a two and a half day meeting convened to identify and suggest solutions to various threats to the core mission of the modern research university and scientific and humanistic investigation. The distinguished group of participants represented a diverse array of disciplines, including biology, cosmology, history, law, literature, medicine, philosophy, psychology, physics, sociology and theology.
